Meet Scotty

Background

Scotty Hong is running for Irvine City Council, District 6 to protect Irvine’s quality of life — public safety, traffic safety, clean streets, careful planning, and accountable city government.

As Chief Policy Advisor to Mayor Larry Agran, Scotty works every day at City Hall on practical issues that affect residents, businesses, students, and families. He is focused on delivering results for District 6: better mobility, stronger public safety resources, responsible planning, and a greener, healthier Irvine.

Scotty earned a master’s degree in public administration from Cornell University and completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University.

Experience in City Hall

In the Mayor’s Office, Scotty helps turn city priorities into action by working with city staff, regional partners, and public agencies to move important projects forward.

His approach is straightforward: clear goals, measurable timelines, and transparent progress residents can track.

District 6 sits at the intersection of Irvine’s future — where housing, jobs, UCI, local businesses, and transportation meet along the Jamboree corridor. Scotty is running to make sure growth is managed carefully, infrastructure keeps pace, and District 6 receives the attention and resources it deserves.

Close Sidewalk Gaps and Improve Walkability

Build continuous, safe sidewalks and crossings.

  • Improve frequency and reliability so riders can depend on it.
  • Add a District 6–focused route connecting homes, jobs, retail, and UCI.
